Special welcome to Dr. Tim Hovanec!!! Must go to www.drtimsaquatics.com to learn more! Those who know aquariums know Dr. Tim. He is a legend with products that have set the industry standards. Everything from freshwater, saltwater, reef, and Koi can all be found at his site http This is from his great site: “Dr. Hovanec was the first to demonstrate that bacteria of the phylum Nitrospira were the active nitrite-oxidizing bacteria in aquatic systems such as aquaria. His work on nitrifying bacteria has lead to the discovery of many new species of nitrifying bacteria in freshwater and saltwater systems and the granting of several US and foreign patents, with additional patents pending. He has also conducted much research on topics such as ammonia excretion and toxicity in aquatic organisms, bio-filtration systems design, and fish feed formulations.” Thanx again to Dr. Tim and look forward to seeing you real soon!!!

Previously unable to side view fish in the pond. The open bottom tank allow fish to move up above the pond. Now you can have a very good view of your fish and monitor their health. WHITE SPOTS IN FISH When your fish are afflicted by ick, small white spots appears on their bodies. The parasites burrow into the skin of their victim to feed on blood and dead cells. This causes the skin of the fish to swell and produce cysts which appear as white spots. Infected fish may scratch against rocks or gravel in an effort to get relief from the irritation. After feeding for a week, these noxious critters mature, then dig their way out of the host body and sink to the bottom of the aquarium. Soon after it settles onto the substrate, the ick secretes a soft, jellylike membrane which encloses it. Within this protective cocoon, the organism rapidly divides into hundred of baby parasites know as tomites. Once the tomite mature, they leave the membrane in search of new host bodies and the vicious circle renews itself. Unless effective remedy is swiftly undertaken, ick will continue to grow and proliferate. It is during this stage that the swimming parasites are searching for new host that they are vulnerable to medication. Once they are burrowed their way into a fish, they are well protected from chemicals. OTHER SOLUTION FOR TREATMENT Raising the water temperature can be an effective remedy, especially when combined with other treatments. If the fish you keep can withstand heat, raised …
